Also called Red Columbine. Perennial, native.

Up to 3 feet tall. Basal leaves 2-3 x compound. Resemble Meadow Rue.

Flowers solitary, nodding, 1-2 inches long. 5 yellow petals surrounded by 5 red petal-like sepals. Long yellow stamens.

Dry woods. Near 4 mile road in Deerfield Townshil, Mecosta County, Michigan. 1314, 1312 August 1.  Usually doesn't persist this late into the summer.
