Barberry family. 1-3 ft tall.
Flower: In a panicle of 5-30 flowers. 1/3 inch in diameter. Six petal like sepals with very small petals.
Leaves: 3 to 4 x compound. Non-flowering plant has one leaf, flowering two. Similar to Meadow Rue leaf. Blue -green.
Central stem often purple, smooth.
Fruit: Early, green becoming blue with time. Poisonous!
