Flowers solitary. 5 to 12 petals which are really sepals. In white, pink, lavender or blue. 1/2 to 1 inch in diameter.

Plant 4 to 9 inches tall. Early Spring ephemeral. 

Leaves in three lobes. Previous years leaves remain over winter.

Dry, moist woods.

White Pine Trail, ~5 miles south of Big Rapids, Mi. April 8th.
